BREAKING: Gov suspends Ramadan Itikaf, Tuhajjud prayers
In a bid to curtail the spread of the novel coronavirus, governments throughout the world have been bringing up measures that is expected to aid the curtailing process.
Just of recent, Saudi Arabia announced that there would be no Taraweeh and Tahajjud prayers in congregation during the holy month of Romadaan.
In a bid to keep the indigenes of the state safe and to curtail the spread of the virus, Jigawa state governor, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, announced that the state has suspended itikaaf and tahajjud (voluntary night prayer and private devotion) during the forthcoming Ramadan.
The governor added that the measures taken is to enhance social distancing so as to curtail further spread of the virus.
He said, “We agreed that there will be Friday prayer but two metres social distancing must be observed, washing of hands before entering mosques and wearing of face masks to see the level of compliance.
“We are also looking for the possibilities of allowing Ramadan Tafsir and Tarawiy but it depends on the level of compliance.
“Our traditional rulers will also participate in protecting our borders and report anybody who sneaks into the state for possible action.”
The governor finally added that a mobile court would be in place to sanction defaulters as the state Task Force tries to enforce the measures on the people.
