Police express dismay over rising incidence of homicide among Residents
The Police Command in Ebonyi on Thursday, expressed strong dismay over the rising incidence of homicide in the state.
This is contained in a statement issued in Abakaliki by SP Joshua Ukandu, Spokesman of the command.
The statement quoted the Commissioner of Police, Mrs Urunwa Okafor, describing the rising cases of murder as “bad act to mankind”.
Okafor noted that the command had in the month of March, charged four persons to court over alleged homicide.
“The suspects include: Onyebuchi Eze (m), Eze Nwuke (m), Odinaka Emmanuel Okoh (m), and Uchenna Ota (m) to court for alleged involvement in murder cases.
“These developments are deeply concerning. We expresses strong dismay over the rising incidence of homicide in the state,” she stated.
She appealed to the people of Ebonyi and residents of the state to refrain from taking the law into their hands and to promptly report grievances to the nearest police station.
The commissioner further emphasised that murder was not only a capital offence but also a grave crime against humanity.
She reaffirmed her open-door policy and urged members of the public to come forward with complaints, assuring them of prompt attention. (NAN)
