FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Governor Fubara’s political camps meet in Port Harcourt
The political camp of Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has resolved its rift with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, signaling a renewed unity within the state’s leadership.
This was confirmed by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister.
A high-level meeting held yesterday in Port Harcourt brought together key political figures from the state, including Wike, Governor Fubara, Speaker of the State House of Assembly Martins Amaewhule, and Chairman of the Rivers State Elders Council, Ferdinand Alabraba.
The gathering marks the first public reconciliation between Wike’s allies and Fubara since a political crisis led to federal intervention.
Six months ago, President Bola Tinubu imposed emergency measures in Rivers State to quell rising tensions between the former allies.
The drastic action included suspending Governor Fubara, the deputy governor, and the entire House of Assembly.
Tinubu also appointed retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas as Sole Administrator to oversee state affairs during the suspension.
Last month, the President officially lifted the emergency rule, reinstating Fubara and the legislative arm of the state.
Olayinka while revealing the meeting said: “The Political Family is fully united.”
He added: “FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, Chairman of the Rivers State Elders Council, Chief Ferdinand Alabraba, Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule and other leaders in a meeting in Port Harcourt yesterday.
“It was the first meeting of all the political leaders on Wike’s side with Fubara.”
