CP disburses N1 million to 36 Youths for community policing
Commissioner of Police in Kano State, CP Ibrahim Bakori, has disbursed N1 million to 36 youths to boost community-based crime prevention and non-kinetic policing in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) reports that the event, held at the State Police Headquarters, Bompai, was in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police on adopting community-driven strategies for crime management and control.
The cash support, donated by philanthropist Alhaji Baffa Babba Dan Agundi, is part of an ongoing reintegration initiative to help vulnerable youths transition into productive economic activities.
Addressing the beneficiaries, CP Bakori urged them to invest the funds in viable trades and small businesses, stressing the importance of discipline and reinvestment.
He noted that many of the beneficiaries had abandoned criminal activities and were now meaningfully engaged, with some having established families.
Representing the donor, Nasiru Usman Na’ibawa reaffirmed commitment to youth empowerment.
Goodwill messages were also delivered by the Chairman of AMG Foundation, Dr Aminu Garba, and the Executive Director of YOSPIS, Zainab Naseer.
One of the beneficiaries, Chile Mai Doki, expressed gratitude to the police, revealing that he had previously lived in hiding before choosing a peaceful path, encouraged by his father. (NAN)
