Buhari’s Minister reveals how to stop President Tinubu’s reelection in 2027

Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has called on Nigerians to actively oppose President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, warning that meaningful change won’t come from passive complaints or wishful thinking.

Speaking on Thursday at the launch of the 2025 Nigeria Social Cohesion Survey Report by the Africa Polling Institute in Abuja, Amaechi said the 2027 election must be a contest between the people and what he described as a corrupt elite class.

“The only way to stop Tinubu from being president again in 2027 is to make it an election of Nigerians versus the bandits,” he said.

“If you think you can just sit back and let that happen on its own, may God help you.”

Amaechi criticised citizens for remaining docile while a small group of elites controls the country’s resources and direction.

“The elites stealing Nigeria’s wealth are not more than 100,000, but over 200 million Nigerians remain silent,” he said.

“You grumble in private but do nothing. Don’t think the elites don’t know you’re suffering — they do. But your helplessness is self-imposed.”

The former Rivers State governor also revealed that he once considered leaving the country, but his wife persuaded him to stay.

“I told my wife I wanted to ‘japa’ like many others. I could get an official visa to settle anywhere. But she said no — that Nigeria is still a country worth loving,” he said.
