“The military and the insurgents are currently in a hot exchange of fire. Right now as I am talking to you, they are throwing bombs everywhere,” he said.

“The insurgents are currently occupying the town. But most of the residents have fled.”

A resident of Dapchi that has fled to Baymari, confirmed the incident and explained that the house of the village head is among the houses that were burnt by the terrorist group.

It would be recalled that the terrorist group first attacked Dapchi on February 19, 2018, when 117 female students were abducted from school. While five of the girls died in captivity, the others were released after negotiations took place between the federal government and the terrorists, apart from Leah Sharibu, who reportedly denied to denounce her faith in order to be released.
