“The IGP also warned all tactical squads against the misuse of power and improper dressing, emphasizing the importance of operating in approved uniforms. No operative should be seen carrying assault arms (rifles) while dressed in civilian attire (mufti).

“All tactical squads are to ensure compliance with the standard operating procedure, while properly dressed in the assigned uniform for the particular squad.

“The IGP further emphasized on the indiscriminate transfer of cases without the written approval of the IGP. This conduct is highly prohibited and would no longer be tolerated, as such exposes the parties to unnecessary burdens and delayed justice in their cases.

Drama in Court as Kanu challenges jurisdiction of Judge Binta Nyako to try him

The leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu, has challenged the jurisdiction of Justice Binta Nyako presiding over his case in court, as he re-appeared before the Federal High Court judge for the resumed hearing of his protracted case.

Kanu emphasised that Nyako has no right whatsoever to try him, alleging that Binta Nyako is using her position as judge to cover the corruption charges faced by her husband and son.

The judge however adjourned the matter indefinitely.

He said: “Binta Nyako said today for the simple reason she has no jurisdiction to try me, none whatsoever, I came out of courtesy and respect.

“There are things that are happening in this country that a lot of you do not know, it is my duty to make that very very clear to all of you today because the lies are too much.

“I sent a petition to NJC, I don’t want to talk about it, Justice Binta Nyako is using her position for her personal gains, her son and her husband are facing corruption charges, and they told them that if they convict me, you can see they don’t want the truth to come out, nobody wants the truth to come out in Nigeria, that’s the problem.

“They sent her to my case so that they can meet up or smoothen the pathway for the husband and the son, there’s a breach on judicial oath, they have violated a judicial oath, they have shown bias according to the Supreme Court, they’re biased against me.

“And that is why what is happening around the judgement and rulings concerning me is happening, disobedience to supreme court orders, Supreme Court said you are biased, you’re against this man, Nigeria went to Kenya and kidnapped him, these things are in the public domains,so why therefore are they insisting on trying me.”
