Anti-Graft Agency probes alleged N4billion scandal Under ex-Governor Ganduje
Kano State’s anti-corruption agency has launched a high-level investigation into the alleged misappropriation of over N4 billion earmarked for infrastructure development at the Dala Inland Dry Port.
The funds were reportedly diverted during the tenure of former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Investigators say the money was funneled into the project shortly after Kano State’s 20% stake in the port was allegedly transferred to members of Ganduje’s family in 2020, effectively stripping the state of its ownership.
Following this transfer, Ganduje’s children were reportedly listed as shareholders and directors of the company overseeing the project.
Despite the loss of public ownership, the contract for the infrastructure work was still awarded and funded using state resources, raising serious concerns about due process and conflict of interest.
Speaking to journalists over the weekend, Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), Saidu Yahya, confirmed that the probe was nearing completion.
“We’ve made significant progress. Some individuals connected to the case have been invited for questioning—one of them was arrested and later granted bail after cooperating with investigators,” Yahya disclosed.
He added that another key figure linked to the case is currently in Yola, Adamawa State, and efforts are ongoing to reach them.
Yahya stated that the commission has established a solid basis for legal action and intends to forward the case to court once the investigation wraps up.
