The Emir of Kaura Namoda in Zamfara State, Alhaji Muhammad Ahmad Asha, who ascended the throne 16 years ago, is dead.

According to a family source, none of them could really point at the cause of the death of the traditional ruler as they were still awaiting the COVID- 19 test result done by the Emir.

The Emir, who died at Yarima Bakura Specialist Hospital, Gusau on Sunday morning was said to be having symptoms similar to that of COVID- 19, but died even before the result of the test is seen by the family members.

“We really don’t know whether he was killed by the COVID-19 or not. Because up till this morning, we have not received the results”, the source said.

According to information gathered, the preparation for the Emir’s burial is ongoing as residents of Kaura Namoda have trooped to the palace on receiving the unfortunate news.

However, no official statement has been released either from the state government or the palace about the death of the traditional ruler as at the time of filling this report.
