How Governors, Cabinet Ministers are ‘disobeying’ my instructions – President Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari has said that despite some governors naming key projects after him in their states, he has earlier warned them not to do so.
The president disclosed this on Thursday during a live broadcast on Arise Television.
The president said this in Kogi State, while commissioning a new Confluence University of Science and Technology at Osara, Reference Hospital at Okene, and township road networks in Idah, Okene and across the three senatorial districts.
Other projects include Ganaja Flyover, Model Science Secondary School, Muhammadu Buhari Square and Civic Centre in Lokoja.
President Buhari, who jokingly said that the Kogi State governor was one of the few governors that disobeyed his earlier instruction on project commissioning, however, said: “I thank the Governor and the people of Kogi state for naming it (Muhammadu Buhari Square and Civic Centre) after me. Here, I have to digress; I attempted to stop governors and ministers from naming projects after me, but the Governor disobeyed me here”, he stated.

The embattled former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has declared himself the authentic Speaker of the House, saying he has resumed his position as the parliament leader.
Obasa made this known on Thursday after returning to the Assembly Complex under the protection of police and State Security Service operatives.
“I’ve resumed, and I remain the Speaker of the Assembly,” Obasa said.
It was his first time back since his removal on 13 January 2025.
Obasa arrived at the complex with more than 11 police officers and headed straight to the Speaker’s Office, ignoring his colleagues who were seen deliberating in the Assembly’s garden before his entrance.
His return follows a dramatic turn of events at the Assembly, where the security details of the new Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Meranda, were reportedly withdrawn.

The Sultanate Council has formally declared that the hunt for the new moon of Ramadan 1446AH will begin on Friday, February 28.
The Wazirin Sokoto and Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Professor Sambo Wali Junaidu, encouraged Muslims to look up at the sky on Friday in anticipation of the new moon in a statement issued Thursday.
He instructed those who spot the moon to report their sightings to the nearest District or Village Head.
Once reported, the sightings will be relayed to the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, who also serves as the President of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, for a formal declaration.
