Omobolanle Raheem: Police clear air over reported release of two officers
The Lagos State Police Command has released two officers who were earlier arrested in connection with the killing of Barrister Omobolanle Raheem.
There was speculation that the prime suspect who opened fire on the deceased on Christmas Day in the Ajah area of Lagos had been freed.
But the Police Public Relations Officer of the state, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a series of tweets, said the suspect, ASP Drambi Vandi is still in custody.
According to the PPRO, the investigation revealed that the two officers released had no hand in killing the pregnant lawyer.
The tweet reads, “The investigation report was earlier today forwarded to the Force Headquarters, Abuja, for further necessary action.
“ASP Drambi Vandi is still in detention! Investigation has shown that the other two officers with him had no hand in the shooting incident.
“They have, therefore, been released. Claims that the officer responsible for the shooting has been released is totally false”.

BREAKING; Police withdraws security personnel attached to Lagos Speaker Meranda
Security personnel attached to Speaker, Lago State House of Assembly Mojisola Meranda, along with those safeguarding the Assembly complex, have been withdrawn with immediate effect.
The withdrawal has left both the Speaker and the legislative building unprotected.
Mr. Victor Ganzallo, the Speaker’s Special Adviser on Information, confirmed the alarming development and voiced serious concerns over the sudden removal of security personnel.
“As of now, all security detail has been removed from the Speaker, and she is left without protection,” Ganzallo revealed.
He cautioned that this leaves the Speaker “vulnerable and exposed to potential threats,” stressing the urgent need for action to address the security gap.
The reason behind the withdrawal remains unknown, with no official statements issued from either the Lagos State Police Command or the state government.
