Police operatives arrest suspects, recover 49 assorted rifles
The Police Command in Kaduna said it has arrested 780 suspects for various crimes between January and December 2022.
The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police Yekini A. Ayoku disclosed this to newsmen at the Police Headquarters in Kaduna on Wednesday.
He explained that 116 suspects were convicted, while 206 kidnapped victims were rescued.
According to him, 49 guns and 1,359 rounds of live ammunition were recovered.
He further added that 17 bandits’ operational motorcycles were recovered with 21 bandits neutralized.
“1,446 rustled livestock were recovered at different parts of the State and 15 bags of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp also recovered,” he said
Ayoku, who resumed as Kaduna State’s Commissioner of Police on 8th April 2022, in the wake of the train attack of 28th March 2022 and the earlier security breach at the Kaduna International Airport general area, declared that the success recorded against criminal elements in the state was due to the synergy that exists among security agencies, and most importantly the support of military backup and aerial patrol and surveillance from the Force Headquarters.
“The objective was to keep the road open and safe for travellers being, at that time, the only major means of accessing Kaduna and other north-western states from Abuja and the southern part of the country. This objective was achieved throughout the period under review. The Command was able to minimize any form of security threat on the highway through the stated upgrade visibility policing and prompt response to distress calls,” he explained.
According to him, he tasked the seven Area commands and 61 divisions to leverage community policing strategy by strengthening police-community partnerships in discharging their constitutional mandate of ensuring public safety and security in their respective areas of responsibility.

BREAKING; Police withdraws security personnel attached to Lagos Speaker Meranda
Security personnel attached to Speaker, Lago State House of Assembly Mojisola Meranda, along with those safeguarding the Assembly complex, have been withdrawn with immediate effect.
The withdrawal has left both the Speaker and the legislative building unprotected.
Mr. Victor Ganzallo, the Speaker’s Special Adviser on Information, confirmed the alarming development and voiced serious concerns over the sudden removal of security personnel.
“As of now, all security detail has been removed from the Speaker, and she is left without protection,” Ganzallo revealed.
He cautioned that this leaves the Speaker “vulnerable and exposed to potential threats,” stressing the urgent need for action to address the security gap.
The reason behind the withdrawal remains unknown, with no official statements issued from either the Lagos State Police Command or the state government.
