Residents kill, dump bodies of 3 robbery suspects in canal

Days after the popular “One million Boys” gang wrote to communities in Lagos of their impending visit, three suspects were killed by residents of Igando community, a Lagos suburb, on Tuesday.
The letter written to the communities included stern warnings to the residents to keep cash on them or get their wrist chopped off. This had prompted the residents to form a vigilante group that will keep watch on the community.
According to a source residents were alerted of the gang’s visit on Monday night and the vigilante group stayed at alert till 5am when the robbers were caught.
The source said,“On Monday night, there was an uproar everywhere that these bad boys were approaching our area. We armed ourselves with cutlasses and took positions. But we did not see them until 5am when we heard they were at Sadiku Olowora street. By the time we got there, the vigilante group whose members are OPC had already overpowered three of them.
“Cutlasses and a lighter was found on them. During interrogation, one of them said the lighter was meant to burn victims’ window nets, in order to gain access into their apartments”.
According to reliable sources, the suspects are mere burglars not members of ‘One million boys’ gang. However, seven persons have been arrested by police men from Ikotun division for taking laws into their hands.
The commissioner of police, Lagos State Police Command, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered that further investigations should be done regarding the development.
