Coalition Party structured and set up to favour only Atiku as Presidential candidate

Dumebi Kachikwu, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, has sensationally claimed that the party’s faction led by former Senate President David Mark is deliberately positioning itself to make former Vice President Atiku Abubakar its 2027 presidential flag bearer.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Thursday, Kachikwu alleged that during a meeting with the group, their primary focus was on “reclaiming power,” with little regard for broader national interests or established political conventions like zoning.

Kachikwu, who appears to be at odds with this faction, openly challenged the coalition’s leaders to prove his assertion wrong.

He dared them to publicly declare that the ADC’s 2027 presidential ticket would be zoned to the Southern part of the country if their intentions were genuinely different.

“The Coalition was engineered and designed to produce Atiku Abubakar as the standard flag bearer. If not, I challenge them to make a statement that the ADC 2027 Presidential ticket is for Southerners,” Dumebi stated emphatically.

He further added, “All they were saying during my meeting with them was that they wanted to take their power back.”

Kachikwu’s comments expose a potential deep-seated power struggle and strategic maneuvering within the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

His claims suggest that the coalition’s formation might be less about party unity or national vision and more about facilitating a specific individual’s presidential ambition.
