In a shocking turn of events in Anambra State, a local security outfit has announced plans to arrest women seen in public without bras or panties.

The statement, made through a public address system, quickly went viral after being shared in a video on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, February 16.

In the video, a security official, speaking in Igbo, stated that the controversial directive was issued by the state’s governor, Chukwuma Soludo.

The official added that women found wearing only panties in public would also be subject to immediate arrest.

However, Anambra authorities is yet to issue an official statement addressing the announcement.

In the wake of the announcement, former Senator Shehu Sani from Kaduna State raised questions about how the security forces would verify compliance by ladies and whether it would apply to men as well.

Sani shared his thoughts in a post via his X handle on Monday, February 17.

He wrote: “Anambra’s Bra and Pant law; I don’t know if the Pant law is applicable to Men….and how can the security outfit verify ladies compliance?”
