Single barrel shotgun, pump-action rifle, loaded AK-47 magazine recovered as Man shoots Friend during argument

In a dramatic turn of events, a 33-year-old man, Obinna Nwigwe, has been arrested by operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command after allegedly shooting his friend during a heated argument on December 26, 2024, in the serene area of Bwari, Abuja.

According to FCT Police Commissioner, CP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, authorities responded swiftly to a distress call from the Najob Guest House in Bwari.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered 29-year-old Andrew Philemon lying in a pool of blood, critically injured from a gunshot wound.

Further investigation led police to Nwigwe’s residence, where they uncovered a disturbing arsenal of weapons.

Among the items seized were five Dane guns, an English-made single barrel shotgun, a pump-action rifle, an AK-47 magazine loaded with 29 rounds of live ammunition, and a range of other deadly weapons, including a sword stick, knives, a taser, a bulletproof vest, and police uniforms. Shockingly, officers also found a toy gun and a bow and arrows at the suspect’s home.

CP Disu confirmed that Philemon is currently receiving medical treatment at the National Hospital in Abuja, while Nwigwe remains in custody.

The police commissioner assured that once investigations are completed, the suspect would face charges in court.

Highlighting the importance of community vigilance, Commissioner Disu urged residents to actively engage with law enforcement by reporting any suspicious activities in their neighborhoods.

He emphasised that the safety and security of all citizens depend on collective efforts and timely cooperation with authorities.
