40–year–old Man sets his house, Wife, two Children on fire
A tragic incident unfolded in the Asa Umudim community of Osisioma Local Government Area, Abia State, where a man, believed to be around 40 years old, allegedly set his home on fire, leading to the death of one of his daughters.
The man’s wife and two other children sustained severe burns and are currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
According to community sources, the suspect allegedly soaked the house in a flammable substance and ignited it, reportedly accusing his wife of infidelity and frequently receiving calls from men he suspected to be her lovers.
One of the children died in the inferno, while doctors are battling to save the lives of the surviving victims.
Eyewitnesses say enraged villagers nearly lynched the suspect before police officers arrived and took him into custody.
The remains of the deceased daughter have been deposited at a mortuary.
The Abia State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, confirmed the incident, stating that the police are aware and Investigation is ongoing.
