A growing online rivalry between two Nigerian content creators took a dramatic turn Friday after popular influencer VeryDarkMan publicly alleged that his life was under threat, and named Seyi Tinubu in connection with the claim.
In a video posted to Instagram that quickly went viral, VeryDarkMan told followers to hold Seyi Tinubu and fellow content creator King Mitchy responsible should anything happen to him.
He did not provide evidence of a specific threat but insisted the public should be aware of what he described as mounting pressure linked to the dispute.
The controversy stems from an ongoing clash between VeryDarkMan and King Mitchy over transparency in charitable fundraising.
VeryDarkMan had questioned her handling of public donations received since 2025, demanding accountability for funds raised from supporters.
King Mitchy recently drew attention online after renovating a public school within six days, a project she said was made possible through financial backing from Seyi Tinubu.
The renovation was widely circulated on social media, earning praise from supporters.
In his latest video, VeryDarkMan shifted focus from financial scrutiny to personal safety, urging Nigerians to “hold” both Seyi Tinubu and King Mitchy accountable if harm comes to him.
Neither Seyi Tinubu nor King Mitchy had publicly responded to the accusation as of press time.
While accusing Seyi Tinubu of threatening his life, he said:
“Nigerians, with respect to what’s going on now, they are beginning to threaten my life. Seyi Tinubu and King Mitchy are threatening my life. Last night, this is the chat King Mitchy sent to my friend, Kokopee. And this is part of the chat. She said, ‘Hold VDM ooo. Either we talk on the phone and settle this, because the matter don serious ooo. Seyi just called me now to explain everything. Talk to VDM because what I heard just now, hmmm, I’m afraid.’
“Seyi go far ooo. Na me know wetin he tell me on phone. Protect your bro. My life is being threatened. I just want to put it out there that if anything happens to me, it’s King Mitchy and Seyi. They both know what they’ve spoken on the phone. King Mitchy is so scared that she wants to come and meet me so that we can quickly settle to appease Seyi because Seyi is so angry. Seyi Tinubu is so influential and powerful that he can command the IGP and DSS boss. Anything Seyi likes, he can do. I want Nigerians to know that it is because I am speaking about the evil of this government that Seyi Tinubu is coming for me.
“A threat to my life has been issued. If anything should happen to me and my close ones, hold @seyitinubu and King Mitchy responsible. THIS IS NOT A JOKE. I DON’T FEEL SAFE. Seyi Tinubu has the power and connections. I DON’T FEEL SAFE,” he said.
