’11 APC Governors, 37 Senators, 15 Reps working for Atiku Abubakar’
The Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation has said that about 11 governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are currently working underground for the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.
According to Daily Independent, the spokesperson of the Atiku Campaign Organisation, Daniel Bwala, made this known in an interview on Sunday.
Bwala said as of the first week of December 2022, about 37 senators and 15 House of Representatives elected on the platform of the APC are also working for Atiku’s victory in the upcoming 2023 presidential election.
He said the governors will not defect from the ruling APC, but will not support Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the party’s presidential candidate, in the elections.
“As early as the first week of December, we already have 11 APC governors that are supporting our cause and it is still counting. We have 37 APC senators and 15 House of Reps members. That was the first week of December. You can imagine by now how much more we would have gained”, Bwala disclosed.
“These governors are not going to defect from APC because they have their respective people they are pushing for political offices. As we move around the states, you will begin to see the impact. APC cannot win the presidential election. Atiku has inherited the 12 million votes of Buhari.
“The next president of Nigeria is Atiku because the Nigerian people are tired of the APC. Nigerians have looked at our manifesto and have come to the conclusion that our manifesto is the only one that presents the realistic path to economic recovery”.
Also speaking on the PDP G-5 led by Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, Bwala said it will be difficult for the governors to support Tinubu and the APC based on what the negative things they have said about the party in the past.
“One of the challenges that they have right now is that if they go supporting Tinubu, is it not the APC that Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, said was a cancer they will be supporting? Remember Wike said PDP has a headache and APC has cancer.
“Even Ortom of Benue said APC brought destruction to his own people and that was why he joined PDP. So, will their people now listen to them to vote for APC? If they support Tinubu, that means they are only deceiving their people and are not fighting for equity, justice and fairness”.
Also on Sunday, Prince Kassim Afegbua, a former Commissioner for Information in Edo State and staunch loyalist of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, said he had it on good authority that Atiku met with three APC governors in Dubai.
He was quoted by Daily Independent to have said: “I am aware and have it on good authority that the Atiku group held a meeting with three APC governors in Dubai, but it won’t yield any positive result”.
Afegbua further said Atiku has also set up a committee on how to manipulate the Bimodal Voters’ Accreditation System (BVAS) which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) intends to use for the 2023 general elections.
“I am also aware that the Atiku group has set up a committee on INEC with the sole purpose on how to manipulate the BVAS by front loading figures.
“They have held two meetings in this regard, but yet to conclude on the amount to be paid those who were recruited by the committee. At the appropriate time, I will unveil those involved.
“Such desperation will not lead Atiku Abubakar anywhere, it will only hurt the graveyard peace that permeates the entire country between the North and South.
“If you want peace and tranquility, you must deliberately and consciously promote the Southern presidency. Nigeria is too fragile presently, and any attempt to drive the sentiments further can snowball into an avoidable political turmoil whose end you may not discern.
“Tell Dino Melaye to advise his new found boss with a nationalistic mindset, and not partisan orchestration that will hurt the consciousness of the country. Governor Wike has since become the conscience of this 2023 electoral contest, and his heroic stance with his other colleagues, will factorise the real politics of 2023”.
