A 30-year-old woman named Hauwa Yusuf has been detained by operatives from the Special Tactical Squad (STS) for attempting to transport an AK-47 rifle and four AK magazines hidden inside a sack of garri.
Yusuf was apprehended along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway during a stop-and-search operation.
Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force spokesperson, disclosed that Yusuf was taken into custody on August 14, 2024. She was traveling from Lafia in Nasarawa State to Katsina State in a Sienna bus when she was intercepted.
Adejobi reported that Yusuf was discovered with a concealed AK-47 rifle, lacking a breach number, and four AK magazines hidden inside a white sack of garri.
During questioning, Yusuf admitted that she was instructed by Aminu Basullube, a notorious bandit active in Katsina State, to collect the arms from the Danum Madam Camp area.
