Governor promises justice, vows to sign death warrant in recent gruesome murder case

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has taken a hard stance following the brutal killing of a woman and her six children in the Chiranci Dorayi area of the state, pledging the ultimate legal penalty for anyone found guilty.

In a statement released Wednesday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor made it clear that justice would be uncompromising, declaring that he “would sign the death warrant for any convict found guilty in the Chiranci Dorayi killings.”

He further warned that “the same action would apply to the killers of Hanifa and the Gezawa arsonists who set many people ablaze, once convicted by the court.”

The governor also instructed relevant authorities to hasten legal proceedings, directing “the Kano State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice to fast-track prosecution of the suspects already arrested in connection with the killings,” while assuring that “all those found culpable would be prosecuted for justice to be served.”

During a condolence visit to the grieving family, Governor Yusuf announced far-reaching support measures aimed at rebuilding the life of the bereaved father.

According to the statement, the governor “approved the sponsorship of the bereaved father of the six children and their mother who were killed in the Chiranci Dorayi area of Kano for Hajj and Umrah, alongside a new house and full welfare support.”

As part of the rehabilitation effort, the governor further ordered that “a new and befitting house be given to the bereaved father as part of efforts to rehabilitate him and restore his social life.”

He also assured that “the state government would take full responsibility for the man’s welfare and support him to remarry, should he find a suitable life partner, while taking care of all necessary requirements for him to restart again.”

Governor Yusuf commended security agencies for their swift response, praising the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS) and others for their “synergy and swift action that led to the arrest of the suspects.”

In a gesture of gratitude, the statement revealed that “the bereaved father of the Chiranci victims donated his personal house to the Kano State Government for the construction of an Islamiyya school to serve the community.”

The governor rounded off the visit with prayers, asking “for Almighty Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest and to give their families and the people of Kano State patience and lasting peace.”

Separately, Governor Yusuf also paid condolence visits to other families in mourning.

He visited the family of the late Dr. Bature AbdulAziz, President of the National Patriotic Elders Forum for Peace and Unity, whom he described as “a patriotic elder and peace advocate whose contributions to unity and national development would be remembered.”

The governor also commiserated with Baba Umar, Executive Secretary of the Kano State Private and Voluntary Schools Board, over the loss of his mother, praying that Allah forgives her shortcomings and grants her eternal rest.
