What I want to be remembered for after my tenure by IGP Usman Baba Alkali

The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali, said that he wants to leave behind a Police Force that is dedicated, committed and highly professionalised when he leaves office after his tenure must have elapsed.

CRIME CHANNELS gathered that Usman Baba said on Friday, Sept 3, while speaking to stakeholders at a one-day duty tour in Jigawa Police Command.

It was learnt that he promised to apply the policy of reward and punishment to enhance service delivery among police operatives across the federation.

He said, “I want to leave a legacy of professionalised Police, a dedicated Police Force with sincerity of purpose, zeal and courage.”

“I will also reward hardworking officers and punish bad eggs in service. Reward is to motivate while punishment is to serve as deterrent to others”.


Speaking further, the Police Chief warned Police officers who are fond of recording
police activities in video or audio form and then sending it to social media platforms, to desist from such acts.

He said that any Police officer who engage in such acts will be dealt with decisively, according to the law that governs the land.

In his remark, the Commissioner of Police in Jigawa state, Mr Aliyu Sale, thanked the IGP for visiting the Command. He told the IGP that Jigawa state was peaceful.

“Jigawa is relatively peaceful. And since my assumption of duty on Aug. 8, I’ve put in place some proactive crime-fighting strategies, ” he said.
