Two Soldiers shot dead in gun battle with suspected bandits; expatriate abducted
The Nigerian Army has lost two of its personnel during a gun battle with armed bandits in Nasko community in Magama LGA of Niger State.
According to reports, it was learnt that the armed bandits also abducted a Chinese man in the same local government area of Magama.
A resident of the area who spoke with Journalist said that some bandits attacked Nasko, Magama LGA but Soldiers were on ground to resist them.
The resident said there was a fierce gun battle between the Soldiers and the bandits, resulting to the death of 2 Soldiers.
A top security source, who spoke under anonymity confirmed that 2 Soldiers were killed in the gun battle while several others sustained injuries.
According to the Security source, Military operatives are combing the mountains and the forest used as cover by the bandits to evade arrest.
Meanwhile, the Chinese man that was kidnapped is said to be one of the foreign workers of a construction firm handling the road construction in the Magama local government area.
Reacting to the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of Niger State, DSP Wasiu Abiodun said he hasn’t been briefed about the incident, he however said that he will call other police formations in the area to get details of the incident.
