Two [2] Police officers reportedly shot dead in bloody shootout with gunmen
The Enugu State Police Command has verified the deaths of two brave officers who died of bullet wounds sustained after a battle with unidentified attackers in an Enugu community.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, issued a statement in Enugu on Saturday confirming this.
On June 2, the brave officers engaged unidentified gunmen who attacked them while on duty in the Nkpamte community of the Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area (LGA), according to Ndukwe.
“At about 12 noon of June 2, 2022, yet-to-be identified gunmen attacked and fatally wounded two Policemen, at Nkpamte community of Igbo-Eze North LGA, after a gunfight.
“The Police officers were immediately moved to the hospital, but were unfortunately confirmed dead by doctors on duty,” he said.
The investigation and manhunt for the criminal components have begun, according to a police spokesman.
