They are coalition of “confusion” – President Tinubu mocks opposition party ADC
President Bola Tinubu has dismissed the newly formed opposition alliance under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), branding it a “coalition of confusion.”
Tinubu made the remark on Thursday during the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja, where the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Nentawe Yilwatda, was announced as the party’s new national chairman.
Addressing party leaders, the president called for a postponement of the APC congresses until December, saying the move would give more opposition members the opportunity to join the ruling party.
“It’s not a bad idea to abandon the sinking ship and be absent from a coalition of confusion,” Tinubu said.
The ADC-led coalition includes prominent opposition figures such as Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, both of whom contested against Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election and have pledged to challenge his re-election bid in 2027.
