Tension, tears as Soldiers allegedly shoot Lecturer, Computer Science Graduate dead

There is wide spread tension in Ehime Mbano and in Owerri, the Imo State capital, over the alleged killing of one Chimobi Nwaokoro, a Computer Science graduate of Federal Polytechnic Nekede in Owerri and a lecturer of the same school, Pastor Steve Ndukonye by men of the Nigerian Army.

CRIMECHANNELS gathered that the two persons were killed on Monday when they were in a highlander vehicle along Nazi junction 1 in Owerri.

It was gathered that the Soldiers were trailing a high lander which was used for a kidnap operation on the same day, however, on sighting that the victims were also in a high lander, the Soldiers shot them in close range.

The brother of the deceased, narrating what happened to newsmen, said that his brother, Chimobi was returning from church, and he was in the same vehicle with Pastor Steve when Soldiers shot them.


According to him, on getting to Naze junction, the vehicle was hit by hail of bullets resulting in the death of the 2 men.

While the Lecturer/Pastor died on the spot, Chimobi who was rushed to FMC Owerri gave up at the hospital having lost so much blood. He was said to be hit on the leg and stomach.

The brother of the deceased, Pomise Nwaokoro, expressed sadness over the death of his brother.

He said, “We are still struggling to believe this very sad tragedy, hoping it is not true.”

“Chimobi has just graduated in computer science from the Polytechnic and waiting to go for the National Youth Service, ” he said amid tears.

Meanwhile, the tragedy has thrown Umuezeala Nsu, Ehime Mbano, home town of the slain student in mournful mood, with several youths calling for war.
