Tension brews as Assembly suspends 3 Lawmakers, declares one sit vacant

Three Lawmakers have been suspended by Imo State House of Assembly.

The Lawmakers are Arthur Egwim representing Ideato North, Ngozie Obiefule representing Isu and Obinna Okwara representing Nkwerre.

The House said, “The Governor presented the 2022 budget, the house promised to give it an accelerated hearing. These lawmakers ignored to participate in the sitting and the speaker was angry with their action, therefore they were suspended.”

Also One of the law makers seat has been declared vacant and the reason for the declaration by the house is:
“He has been absent for a period more than the one-third of the sitting period in a year and that automatically attracts the declaration of the seat vacant and has declared the election to take place in the next 90 days.”

Currently there is serious tension as supporters of the law makers that were suspended has shown thier displeasures and some has said they would protest against the suspension of thier representative, from the house of Assembly.
