Suspect arraigned for allegedly assaulting police Inspectors
The Police, on Friday, arraigned one Sam Omaddi, 30, before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for allegedly assaulting police officers.
Omaddi, whose address was not provided, is facing a seven-count charge, bordering on conspiracy, assault, occasioning harm, conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace and malicious damage.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Olalekan Adegbite, told the court that the defendant committed the offences between Aug. and Oct. 21, at Idi-Ayunre, Ibadan.
He alleged that the defendant assaulted one Insp. Muritala Atanda and Isiaka Okunade.
He said the defendant and others at large unlawfully used razor to cut Atanda’s clothes, worth N20,000.
Adegbite said that the defendant also assaulted one Insp. Kemi David by blowing her.
He said Omaddi conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace and committed offences contrary to Sections 516, 351, 249(d) and 451 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Kausarat Ayofe, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 and two sureties, in like sum.
Ayofe, thereafter, adjourned the case to Dec. 3, for hearing. (NAN)
