A serving Nigerian Army personnel has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a dismissed soldier to death during a midnight altercation in Maiduguri, Borno State.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the incident in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, revealing that the confrontation occurred around 2 a.m. on Thursday in the Kasuwan Fara area of the city.
The suspect, identified as a Lance Corporal attached to the Nigerian Army’s 7 Division, reportedly engaged in a heated argument with the deceased, Musa Adamu, a former soldier.
The dispute escalated, and the Lance Corporal allegedly stabbed Adamu in the chest with a jackknife.
Makama stated that Adamu was rushed to the Borno State Specialist Hospital, where he was later confirmed dead. His body has since been deposited at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
The suspect was subsequently handed over to the police by a senior army officer on Friday.
The case has now been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and potential prosecution.
