Seven suspected Cult members arrested inside Hospital by Police operatives
Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have apprehended seven suspected cult members after storming a hospital in Uromi, headquarters of Esan North-East Local Government Area.
The Command’s spokesperson, Moses Yamu, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Thursday in Benin City. According to him, the suspects—identified as members of the Eiye Confraternity, were allegedly meeting to plan a retaliatory strike against the rival Aye group.
This followed a violent confrontation between an Eiye member known as “I Dey Chop” and an Aye member, Asuelimen Saviour, during which both were injured.
Yamu said the suspects were picked up on November 15, 2025, by a team led by the Divisional Police Officer after officers acted on credible intelligence.
He added that a battle axe and several cult-related items were recovered during the operation.
He further disclosed that Asuelimen Saviour was arrested a day later, on November 16, as part of the continuing investigation.
Yamu described the operation as evidence of the Command’s sustained offensive against cultism, violent crime, kidnapping, and armed robbery, reiterating the police’s commitment to maintaining security across the state.
