If you can’t fix your party, you can’t fix Nigeria – Senator slams atiku for dumping PDP

Adams Oshiomhole, senator representing Edo North, has taken aim at former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, questioning his ability to address Nigeria’s challenges.

In an interview on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television aired Monday, Oshiomhole asserted that Atiku, who recently switched political parties, is incapable of fixing the nation’s problems.

He said, in effect, that a leader unable to manage his own party cannot be expected to manage the country.

The comments follow Atiku’s official defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a coalition-backed party, which he joined on Monday as he positions himself for the 2027 general elections.

Reacting, Oshiomhole said, “If Atiku as a former vice president under PDP could not fix PDP, he could not reconstruct it, he could not provide leadership and use his influence which he had built, how can you lay claim to fix Nigeria.
“Former President Olusegun Obasanjo gave Atiku a lot of leverage, so much power, yet he couldn’t use it to fix the PDP,” Oshiomhole said.

The senator also referenced Abubakar’s exit from the APC, recounting that the former vice-president only departed the ruling party after he failed to clinch its presidential ticket.

“He was once a member of the APC. He left because he lost the party’s presidential ticket,” he said.

“He went back to the PDP. He’s so much in love with the PDP, at least for the purpose of contesting election. He could not build PDP.

“So, if Atiku can’t build the PDP that made him vice-president, he can’t fix Nigeria.”
