Four Soldiers killed in Bandits ambush attack

Troops of Operation Hadarin were said to be attacked unaware by bandits in an ambush in Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Tuesday.

The troops was said to have been on the move to convey food to their colleagues that are on guard in the bush, before they were attacked by bandits in the bush between Birane and Garin-Kada villages of the Zurmi Local Government Area.

According to a source, the bandits opened fire on the soldiers immediately they got close to the bush and four of the soldiers were allegedly killed by the bandits.

“The Force Commander of the OPHD who is also the General Officer Commanding, 1 Division, Sokoto, Brig. Gen. Aminu Bande, has visited the scene.

“The soldiers regrouped, attacked and killed the bandits in large numbers, forcing them to flee leaving some of their assault weapons,” the source added.
