ACPs, DCPs, SPs others included Police Commission promotes over 8000 officers

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has officially approved the promotion of 8,053 senior police officers following the completion of assessments by its Standing Committee on Police Promotions, led by retired Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Taiwo Lakanu.

During the PSC’s Plenary session, which resumed on December 16, 2024, interviews were conducted for shortlisted candidates across various ranks, starting with Commissioners of Police (CPs) and Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), and continuing with Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) to DCPs, and Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) to ACPs.

The session culminated in the elevation of 11 CPs to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), alongside 16 DCPs promoted to the rank of CPs. In addition, 21 ACPs were advanced to DCPs, and 57 CSPs were upgraded to ACPs. Notably, CSP Odum Williams from Anambra State Command’s Operations Department was among those promoted.

Furthermore, the commission announced the promotion of 1,348 Superintendents of Police (SPs) to the rank of Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs), marking a significant reshuffling within the senior ranks of the Nigerian Police Force. Notable officers promoted included:

Matilda Umiah Ngbaronye, former Public Information Officer, African Union Mission in Somalia

Opara Angela Precious, IGP Secretariat, Force Headquarters, Abuja

Felix Ekpoudom, O/C Quick Intervention Unit, Akwa Ibom State

Ehinola Temitope Layomi, 2 PMF, Lagos

Okebugwu Eggbath Chidozie, DPO, Abakaliki Road

Okereke Joy Onyedikachu, O/C Servicom, Enugu State Command

The commission also promoted 876 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) to Superintendents of Police (SPs). Among them were:

Nioopwa Sondago, Fayiwole Julius Oluwadare

Ruth Danladi, Admin Officer, Crack Squad, FCT Command

Ozoeze Victoria Chekwubechukwu, O/C JWC, Osisioma Division, Abia State

Additionally, 5,829 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) were promoted to DSPs. Notable ASPs promoted included:
