President Tinubu seeks confirmation of new appointments, writes Senate

President Bola Tinubu has written the Senate, seeking for the screening and subsequent confirmation of Dr. Olatunji Bello as the Chief Executive Officer/Executive Vice Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC.

The President has also forwarded to the Senate for confirmation, names of three nominees for consideration and confirmation for appointment as chairman, Secretary and member of the Police Service Commission, PSC, respectively.

The nominees are the Retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, Hashim Argungu as the chairman, Chief Onyema Uche as the Secretary, and Retired DIG Taiwo Lakanu as a member of the PSC.

Reading the President’s letters of nomination, the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio forwarded the appeal to various committees for further legislative work.

Bello’s nomination was referred to the Senate Committee for Trade and Investment while those of Argungu, Uche and Lankano were referred to the Senate Committee on Police Affairs.


Akpabio asked that both committees should report back T plenary in the next one week.
