President Tinubu issues directive to military tells them when to end Banditry, Terrorism
The Nigerian military has been given a strict deadline by President Bola Tinubu to eradicate banditry and overall insecurity throughout the nation by the end of 2025.
The order, which was given by Abubakar Badaru, the minister of defense, demonstrates the administration’s resolve to address Nigeria’s growing security threats.
In a widely circulated video, Badaru announced that the military is intensifying its efforts to combat bandits and other criminal elements.
He emphasised that the military’s offensive operations will continue relentlessly until all bandits are eradicated from the nation’s landscape.
“Bandits are on the run, and we will not rest until they are completely flushed out,” Badaru affirmed, highlighting the determination of the armed forces to restore peace and security to affected regions.
This aggressive stance is part of a broader strategy to address the growing threats posed by insurgents, kidnappers, and other criminal networks across Nigeria.
The military’s campaign will remain a top priority for the government, with the 2025 deadline serving as a benchmark for progress in the nation’s fight against insecurity.
According to Badaru: “The bandits are now on the run, but the military will not rest until we end this thing. The president has given us marching orders to end insecurity in every part of our country by the end of this year.
“The Chief of Defence Staff, NSA are working day and night to actualize that target, as you have seen we are putting pressure on all the theatre operations.
“And indeed, mining activities have been lifted in Zamfara already and this is part of the reason we are meeting today to look at all areas where we have serious security issues and how best we can secure those areas.”
