Police vow to take action against 5 officers seen helping politicians to share money
The Kano State Police Command has announced it will take disciplinary action against its officers who were caught on a viral video assisting politicians in distributing money.
While the video, which is currently circulating on social media, was alleged to have been from the recently concluded by-elections, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, clarified in a statement that the incident actually occurred on July 10, 2025, after a ceremony at the Kano State Government House’s Coronation Hall.
Kiyawa stressed that the video did not originate from the recent re-run and by-elections held in the state.
“The investigation revealed the officers were deployed for security at the event, during which they were regrettably seen engaging in unprofessional conduct.
“The Command assures the public that appropriate disciplinary actions are being taken against the erring officers to maintain the integrity and professionalism of the Nigeria Police Force.
“We remain committed to upholding the highest standards of discipline and ethics while ensuring the trust and confidence of the public”, the statement added.
