Pensioners call for enhanced collaboration with Executive Secretary PTAD

The Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) has called for enhanced collaboration with the new Executive Secretary of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD), Ms Tolulope Odunaiya.

Mr Godwin Abmisi, National President of the NUP said this during its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Monday.

Abmisi said that such collaborations would better the lives of the pensioners in the country.

According to him, the new PTAD Executive Secretary has promised the implementation of the recently approved N32,000 pension increase.

“I want you to ensure that the implementation serves as a Christmas gift for Nigerian pensioners,” he said.

The NUP president, however, said that the union was set to hold its National Delegates Conference (NDC) in April 2025, where new national officials would be elected to pilot the affairs of the union.

He emphasised the importance of the forthcoming elections, describing them as critical for the union’s progress.

He also said that the Kano State government had pledged its support for the senior citizens in their preparations to host the election in the state capital.

In her remarks, Odunaiya, commended the NUP leadership and its members for their cooperation and pledged to work closely with them.

She reassured the union that PTAD was committed to improving the welfare of senior citizens, promising efficient implementation of all Federal Government-approved pension increments.

Odunaiya also noted that PTAD was working to ensure the inclusion of pensioners from the Federal Mortgage Bank and the Ministry of Finance into the agency’s payroll.

She said PTAD was committed to treating pensioners with respect and dignity, emphasising that their welfare remains the agency’s top priority.

“The pensioners are the very reason PTAD exists, and we will not falter in our duty to ensure their needs are met,” she said.(NAN)
