Notorious Bandit Bello Turji speaks again, reveals who’s sponsoring him amid clash between Matawalle and Zamfara Gov
Bello Turji, a notorious bandit leader, has claimed that his group’s actions are being sponsored by God, dismissing allegations that the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, is behind his operations.
Turji’s statement comes amid a public feud between Matawalle and his successor, Governor Dauda Lawal, over accusations of supporting terrorism in Zamfara State.
The two politicians have traded blame, with Matawalle recently challenging Lawal to swear on the Quran that he is not involved in the state’s banditry crisis.
In response, Turji distanced both Matawalle and Lawal from any involvement in the ongoing banditry, rejecting the notion that his group is receiving political support from either official.
In his latest video, Turji said: “Governor Dauda Lawal and Bello Matawalle labelling each other as terrorists (sponsors) will not help.
“I want the people of Zamfara to understand that they are just politicians without the interest of the people of Zamfara in their hearts.
“When (Mr) Matawalle was the governor, who was sponsoring us? Similarly, when Abdulaziz Yari was the governor who was sponsoring us? Nobody is sponsoring us except God.”
