BREAKING: President Tinubu was right to declare emergency rule in Rivers says Fubara

Suspended Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has called on the people of Rivers State, his supporters, and Nigerians at large to express gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his timely intervention in the state’s political crisis, which he said helped prevent a descent into anarchy.
Fubara stated that the President’s decisive action laid the foundation for peace and reconciliation, paving the way for the restoration of executive and legislative functions in the state.
He gave the assurance that full democratic governance would soon return, with both arms of government working in harmony for the collective benefit of the people.
The governor made the remarks on Thursday while addressing leaders and stakeholders of the Simplified Movement during an event in Port Harcourt marking his two years in office.
Fubara expressed optimism that the ongoing reconciliation efforts would stabilize the political climate and strengthen institutions for effective governance in Rivers State
He said: “I want to assure you that the issues will soon be resolved, and you will come back to your offices; not just at the Executive arm, but also Legislative arm. And I also believe that the strong relationships we had before will return, and we will begin to work together again, for the good and progress of the State. What is important is for us to have a forgiving spirit.”
Fubara called on his supporters and the entire people of Rivers State to express deep appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his decisive intervention in halting the escalating political crisis in the state. He also urged them to fully embrace and commit to the ongoing peace process, stressing that only through collective support and restraint can the state progress.
“We are already in the peace process. I want you to thank Mr President for his timely intervention to salvage the situation, and stabilise the polity and the State. If not for Mr President, the story today would have been different.
“I don’t know how he gets his information, but the truth is that he acted with wisdom at the right time. He is the one you should thank. And let me also thank him personally for his intervention, and the personalities across the country, who moved in and appealed to him to intervene.
“We have to come down from our high horses, and subject ourselves to the peace process. And that is what we are doing. What is important is for the State to move forward. It is not about you, the interest of the State is paramount.”
Suspended Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has said the ongoing political turmoil in the state disrupted plans to celebrate his administration’s second anniversary by highlighting key achievements across various sectors.
Speaking during a meeting with stakeholders of the Simplified Movement in Port Harcourt, Fubara noted that, if not for the crisis, the anniversary would have been an opportunity to showcase tangible progress made under his leadership.
He, however, expressed confidence that the administration would emerge stronger, more united, and refocused on delivering quality democratic dividends to the people.
Addressing those angered by recent developments, Fubara acknowledged their frustrations, stating that their grievances are valid. Still, he urged all parties to now embrace peace, pursue reconciliation, and prioritize the state’s development.
Fubara also offered an apology to anyone who may have felt let down by his handling of the crisis, stressing that every decision he made was in the interest of maintaining peace and ensuring Rivers State remained stable.
He expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his prompt and decisive efforts to restore calm, and assured that reconciliation efforts—including with Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike—were progressing positively.
He said, “There is no reason why there will not be peace between me and my Oga”, in reference to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and his predecessor, Chief Nyesom Wike, adding, “There will be peace. We are meeting. We will reconcile.”
Expressing gratitude to the people for their sacrifices and the opportunity to lead, Governor Fubara pledged to remain committed to serving with humility and respect.
He assured that he would continue to honour the trust and mandate given to him by the people of Rivers State.
“One important thing in this life is respect. I want to earn the respect of the people, not force it on them…I’m with you completely,” he said, and thanked Rivers people and all Nigerians who stood by him during the period of political turbulence, acknowledging their loyalty and prayers.
