A woman, Gambo Ibrahim alongside her brother have been arrested by the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC over alleged abandonment and burning of a new born baby in Jigawa state.
Spokesman of the Command SC. Adamu Shehu disclose that the lady who is the biological mother of the baby was arrested with her accomplice, one Abdullahi Isma’il.
“Following in-depth investigation in the area, the Command has successfully arrested One Gambo Ibrahim (35), a lady and her accomplice, Abdullahi Isma’il (39) who happens to be her cousin, both of Kwarin Naganda Quarters Hadejia LGA in connection with the crime”.
Adamu explained that the woman burnt the baby due to shame that she conceived yet again, he also said the woman already had 6 children, and was a divorcee.
He said the woman on the 9th of August 2020 at midnight, gave birth to a stillborn and early the next day, she gave the new born to her cousin brother, Abdullahi, to burn it.
Abdullahi confessed to setting the baby ablaze as instructed by his sister.
SC. Adamu Shehu, said the case is still under investigation, and if both are found guilty, they will be taken to court for prosecution.
