More crises for Simon Ekpa as Finnish Authorities freezes Bank accounts
Finnish authorities have frozen the assets of Simon Ekpa, a prominent figure in the Biafra separatist movement.
Ekpa, who claims to be a leader of the agitation, is currently in custody after being apprehended along with four others suspected of involvement in terror-related activities.
Recent reports indicate that the assets of companies linked to Ekpa and his accomplices have been frozen.
The local newspaper Yle confirmed this development, revealing that Ekpa is being detained at Kylmäkoski Prison, one of the most secure correctional facilities in the world.
Located in Vanhamaantie, Akaa, Finland, Kylmäkoski Prison is known for its high-security standards.
Mikko Laaksonen, Senior Detective Superintendent at Finland’s National Bureau of Investigation, disclosed this information, adding that due to the ongoing investigation, further details cannot be shared.
He also noted that the district court has set a date for potential charges to be brought by May 2025.
