JUST IN; Army officer, three [3] other people arrested for kidnapping

A joint task force team attached to the Ughelli Area Command has apprehended an Army officer and 3 brothers for allegedly kidnapping a mother of 3.

It was gathered that the suspects on January 4th, 2021, kidnapped their victim, Mrs. Tina Etameta, at Agbarha-Otor junction in Ughelli. Upon her abduction, it was said that they demanded a huge sum of money as ransom, which the family of the victim paid to secure her release.

CRIMECHANNELS gathered that the suspects which includes an Army officer and 3 brothers were arrested at Agbarha-Otor community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

The suspects identities were given as Private Miracle Johnson (the Army personnel), Godwin Okpara, Mathew Okpara, and Pius Okpara, indigenes of Igbuku-Orogun community in Ughelli North.


A family source of the kidnapped but now free woman said, “After the release of our sister and mother, one of her kidnappers was sending her messages that she should be paying him N200,000 monthly, else she will killed next time”.

Meanwhile, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onowakpoyeya, when contacted, said he will call Agbarha-Otor Police Station and get more details.

However, a senior security officer attached to the Ughelli Area command, who confirmed the arrest said, “Their names are Godwin Okpars, Mathew Okpara, and Pius Okpara, all siblings from same parents, indigenes of Igbuku-Orogun community in Ughelli North.”

“One Army Private, Miracle Johnson deployed from 22 Brigade, Ilorin but currently on attachment at 222 Battalion, Agbarha-Otor was also arrested.”

“He supplied the ammunition for the operation and also participated in the kidnap. He is currently with the Military Police undergoing interrogation at 3 Battalion in Warri, he will be transferred to Asaba soon”.
