October 5, 2024 has been announced by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) for the conduct of local government elections.
This announcement came amidst the ongoing local government succession feud between Governor Siminialayi Fubara and the Martins Amaewhule-led lawmakers.
Recall that the Governor commissioned caretaker committees to administer the affairs of the local government areas while the ousted chairmen were still claiming access to their seats following the six-month tenure extension approved by the Martins Amaewhule-led administration.
