Jubilation as N3.2 billion is released for payments of Workers Salaries

It’s a season of jubilation for workers in Abia State as the State government on Monday said it has released a total sum of N3.2 billion for the payment of arrears of salaries of Secondary School Teachers, workers of Abia Health Management Board as well as pensioners in the state.

The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Barr Eze Chikamnayo, who disclosed this to newsmen in a press briefing in Umuahia, directed the heads of the affected parastatals to comply and commence payment of their workers without delay.

According to him, Abia Health Management Board will receive N828 million, Secondary School Management Board N983 million, Abia State pensioners N520 million, while Abia State College of Education (Technical), Arochukwu (ACETA) was given 12 months subventions.

Similarly, Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, received four months subvention, Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH) got two months subvention, Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU) received three months subvention as College of Health Technology was given a subvention of five months and the sum of N200 million in addition to facilitate its relocation to its permanent site. .

The government’s intervention followed public outcry over the nonpayment of Salaries of Teachers, pensioners and workers in some parastatals of the state even as the Christmas and New Year festivities approach.
