I will be decamping to APC on Wednesday – PDP Governor makes revelations

Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has confirmed that he will formally defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday, November 19.

Speaking with journalists on Saturday, Kefas said his decision was driven by what he described as the “destiny of Taraba people,” adding that preparations were underway for a major reception to mark his entry into the ruling party.

“There will be a major political shift and alignment on November 19,” he said. “I will officially move from the PDP to the APC. This step is tied to the future of Taraba people.”

Kefas’ move adds to the growing list of PDP governors who have switched to the APC in 2025. Others who have defected this year include Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Peter Mbah (Enugu), and Douye Diri (Bayelsa).

Governor Kefas, who was elected in 2023 with 257,926 votes, defeated Muhammad Yahaya of the NNPP and Emmanuel Bwacha of the APC.

His departure is particularly significant as Taraba has elected only PDP governors since the return to democracy in 1999.
