I rejected President Tinubu’s contract offer says Asari Dokubo
In a recent interview on Arise News Channel’s ‘The Morning Show,’ Mujaheed Asari Dokubo, a former leader of Niger Delta militants and past president of the Ijaw Youth Council, revealed that he turned down an offer from President Bola Tinubu for a pipeline surveillance contract, despite their established rapport.
Dokubo recounted his interactions with President Tinubu, stating, “I met him both on and off camera, and he inquired if I was interested in pipeline surveillance. I made it clear that I was not, but I offered to support those involved in the contract to help his government succeed.”
He emphasised that his choice was not motivated by personal ambition, asserting, “I’ve never claimed to seek personal gain. My needs are minimal, as I’ve consistently stated in my broadcasts.”
Additionally, Dokubo clarified his position regarding political appointments, stating, “I did not seek a ministerial role; I have no desire to hold any position.”
Recently, Dokubo expressed dissatisfaction with some of President Tinubu’s policies, indicating that he plans to forge alliances with Northern politicians, as he believes the South-West has become unreliable.
