I arranged my own kidnap to extort money from my father – lady teacher confess

A classroom teacher who hails from Oyo state and goes by the name Medinat Ibrahim on Wednesday, narrated to Police operatives and journalist why she faked her own kidnap, in a bid to extract money from her father.

CRIMECHANNELS gathered that, the suspect, alongside two of her accomplices, Amudalat Wahab and Hammed Lekqnwere, were paraded in Ilorin, the state capital.

The Command’s spokesperson, Ajayi Okasanmi, said the suspects would be charged for criminal conspiracy and kidnapping.

Narrating what happened, the suspect said that her father didn’t care for her, and that the loss of her mother pushed her into the act.


She also complained that her step-mother has been maltreating her since the demise of her biological mother.

She added that she decided to fake her kidnap to enable her get money to offset debts allegedly incurred during COVID-19 lock down.

She said her business had collapsed, adding that salaries at the private school she teaches are not regular and were not enough.

Meanwhile, Ajayi, the PPRO, said that one Nurudeen Sholagberu reported the Kidnap of Medinat Ibrahim at Oko-Olowo area of Ilorin through the Command’s emergency telephone line.

He said the newly constituted state anti-Kidnapping team was directed to take over the investigations.

He explained that during investigations, it was discovered that the said Medinat conspired with her sister Amudalat Wahab to arrange her kidnap.

He said a bank account belonging to one Hammed Lekan was used to cash the ransom of N250,000.

He also said that the woman and the other two suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations must have been completed.
