Group raises the alarm as plot thickens to recal Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from the Senate

A pressure group, Action Collective, has raised serious concerns over what it describes as a malicious attempt to fabricate a recall petition against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central in the Nigerian Senate.

The group claims to have uncovered a scheme to create false names of constituents allegedly calling for her recall, an action it believes is part of a broader political conspiracy to undermine the senator.

The revelation, made public by the group on Wednesday, comes amidst the senator’s ongoing suspension, which was imposed due to accusations of misconduct and violations of Senate rules.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has been at the center of controversy, especially after accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment and obstructing her legislative efforts to advocate for the people of Kogi Central.

In a statement issued to journalists in Abuja, Dr. Onimisi Ibrahim, the coordinator of Action Collective, revealed that intelligence reports suggest the plot to forge the recall petition is being orchestrated by influential allies of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s political adversaries within the Senate.

The group further stated that these forces view the recall scheme as a final attempt to prevent the senator from seeking justice, both within the Nigerian legal system and from international bodies.

The Action Collective, which is based in Kogi Central, has called the alleged plot a direct attack on democracy and the integrity of the electoral process.

According to the group, the fabricated recall exercise is not just a political maneuver but also an effort to stifle Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s fight for justice and to discredit her as she continues to challenge her suspension and the accusations against her.
