Governor’s convoy allegedly crushes toddler; Its not true, as Gov issues statement

The convoy of the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde was alleged to have ran over a toddler, killing him instantly in Ogbomoso on Thursday.

It was gathered that the accident happened when the Governor visited the ancient town for a PDP campaign rally prior to the Local government elections coming up this Saturday.

It was gathered that some residents of the ancient city are currently protesting the killing of the toddler by the Governor’s convoy.

Some of those who stormed the venue of the campaign condemned the death of the toddler.

However, the Governor of the State, Seyi Makinde has dismissed the reports that his convoy knocked a toddler on Thursday, when he visited Ogbomoso for an event.


The Governor in a statement on Twitter, said he sympathized with the Parents and relatives of the deceased child. He then went on to dismissed the report. He disclosed that the vehicle that hit the child wasn’t part of his convoy.

He wrote, “I received with deep concern the report that my convoy ran over a child on our way to Ogbomoso, earlier today. Our preliminary investigation revealed that the child was hit by an individual driving a Toyota Matrix car who lost control of his vehicle. He was not part of my convoy.”

“My heartfelt condolences go out to the parents of the child. May her gentle soul rest in peace. Investigations are ongoing and we will ensure that the perpetrator(s) is brought to book.”
