Governor reacts as suspected gunmen kill two Police officers

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has vowed to bring to book, those involved in the killing of two policemen in Aba, stressing that he would change the security strategy earlier employed to combat crime in the state.

He stated this after visiting the families of the Police officers to commiserate with them.

It would be noted that four policemen were attacked by unknown terrorists who killed two and wounded two others in the Opobo Road area of Aba, Abia State.

While addressing newsmen after the visit, Otti described the attack as unfortunate.

He however, added that his administration would not succumb to any form of blackmail.

He said: “We thought that with all what we have done, including rounding up some of the people that were involved in that last attack, that this would not happen again.

“We have decided to change strategy. We do not want to speculate but like you (journalist) rightly asked, it is reasonable to suspect that the enemies of the state, particularly those who don’t seem to see any good or want any good for Abia people, may be somehow connected to this. That’s a suspicion.

“We are not going to let this go away without identifying and bringing to book all those who are directly or remotely involved.”
